well frankly that's a little disturbing

Test Song

I wrote this music as a test
Why don't you stop and take a rest
While we adjust the mixing desk
This is the song you get for free
It has no depth of artistry
It just has functionality
So please don't think this is a chorus
It's just a little change that I put in
So that the sound check wouldn't bore us
So stay exactly where you are
'Cause things are soundin' good so far
Let's check the levels on guitar

This song you're not supposed to hear
So stick those plugs into your ear
Why don't you get yourself a beer
There's no point listening to this
It don't officially exist
You'll never find it on the list
All we request is you be patient
You'll see it will be worth it in the end
When we resume our presentation
So please don't judge us on this tune
We need to check the vocals soon
Make sure my voice can fill this place
But first we have to check the bass

And now I'm growlin' singin' low
This is as deep as I can go
You wish we'd get on with the show
We got to check the high notes too
Make sure the voice is strong and true
Please be patient
It's just a thing we have to do
And now the sound guy gives a frown
I think I'm hearin' feedback in that mic
We've got to turn that level down
And now the problem has been fixed
That sound guy knows a lot of tricks
There's still one thing we have to mix
Pick up them sticks pick up them sticks

Hi tom!
Mid Tom!
Low Tom!
Crash!
Snare!
I guess the drums they sound O.K.
It's just a test I have to say
He got a bit carried away
And now the sound guy gives a grin
Looks like we're ready to begin
With perfect balance we are bless'd
I wrote this music as a test.

Plug

Pliable object on the steel
Gold on black
Nothing can break this sacred seal
Drops held back
Perfect circle like a wheel
And I don't know but I can feel
That this is something we all need
If we don't want the sink to bleed
Sometimes you've got to stop that flow
But in the end you let it go

Rising up to the liquid plane
Clear no more
Pulled by an unrelenting chain
Rest on shore
Without a heart without a brain
It plays the part and takes the strain
There's not a person in this land
To hold the flood back with his hand
So fill the hole with something great
You know that plug can take the weight

Mindless thing of choice denied
Tightly gripping to the side
Underneath the lake turned grey
Mask of darkness
Nothing returns from beyond when you take it away
Mindless thing of choice denied
Tightly gripping to the side
Underneath the lake turned grey
Mask of darkness
Nothing returns from beyond when you take it away
Catch the water catch the water

Table Top Dance

My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
But he lost the eight ball and he said it was a pity
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
But the table top's crooked and the felt is gettin' gritty
Take your aim
It doesn't cost you nothin' to play the game
Just lean out on your elbow
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
Compared to that table all the rest are itty bitty
Oh it's something to do with geometry
I call him my brother but actually
He's not really part of the family
He doesn't know me
Far away sphere like a white dot
Mind the felt rip, take a trick shot
He's proud of his table 'cause you know it ain't small
Where's the black ball where's the black ball
What's gonna happen when he's dropped everything else
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table is the biggest in the city
My brother's pool table and it sure is lookin' pretty
Yeah!
The table's so big that you just cain't rock it
Rip the side pocket! Rip the side pocket!
New game we're gonna make that break
New game we're gonna make that break
Cue on the D get out the triangle
Cue on the D get out the triangle
My brother's pool table is the biggest in town
Playin' that game tryin' a hit the balls down
Like standin' in a paddock with a cue in your hand
Hittin' coloured balls 10k across the land
He got a big empty room and he plays all day
With a twenty foot cue stick hittin' away
Like clack! He got nothin' better to do
And every second shot is a bad miscue
But he's all alone so it really doesn't matter
When he get 'em in a group he can make 'em all scatter
My brother never followed no rules before
'Cause the aim of the game is to knock 'em on the floor
Bam! Straight off the break!
My brother's playin' pool and you better stay awake
The table is bigger than a country, yo!
There's balls flyin' round like a firework show!

Fifty Feet Away

Gettin' upset with the routine on the stack
Maybe you'll help me out, pick me up and bring me back
Never been assured of who I am or who I'm gonna be
'Cause I just don't belong and I feel like apathy
Nothin's on the plate
Can never anticipate
Whether it'll work out
Gettin' out of a hole
Followin' protocol
What's it all about?
I got the whole world fifty feet away
But it's lost in the vapour
I got a car and a house where I can stay
But it's only on paper
You say I should see life in shades of grey

I'm sleepin' all day everything just stays the same
Makin' no future plans never see outside the frame
Gotta wait around for the realisation of what you said
Might as well put it on hold till you say go ahead
You better do what you can
There's a lotta things on the plan
That you gotta get done
I think I'll just lounge around
I feel like I'm underground
'Cause I never see the sun
I got the whole world fifty feet away
But it's lost in the vapour
I got a car and a house where I can stay
But it's only on paper
You say I should see life in shades of grey

You tell me I'll be just fine
I'm goin' into decline
Don't know what I can do, no
There's somethin' just out of reach
I'd rather be at the beach
But I've got to wait for you
I've got the whole world fifty feet away
But it's lost in the bad light
I've got a car and a house where I can stay
But it's only a sound bite
You say I should see life in shades of grey
But my TV is black and white, yeah

Gin Palace

Day's end walk from the train
Overlooked by the proud and the strong
High hopes, so much to gain with the time
I was promised a place where I could belong to
Stop look behind
Are we lost?
Check the street
Can we find
Should be a sign
But it's clear that the ware of this place
Is shoes not beer and wine I was told
And the proof of mistake stares me in the face
I don't know who's to blame
Was it me alone?
Did I get it wrong?
Do they even know my name?
Does it matter?
Do they expect me to phone?
Should I blame the man in charge?
Should I give up now?
Would it spoil their plans?
Will I ever get a second chance?
Closed every door
It's too late
And my hopes
Hit the floor
Must I withdraw?
Is it worth holding on to the dream?
No sense, no common law to explain
All the roads I've taken
All the stores are vacant

I Wanna Feel Good

Nothing important has been happening
The weather's warmer
I should go walking by the sea
I watched a movie in the daytime
There's still an hour
Before I turn off my TV
Glacial pace I don't wanna leave my place I'm sitting and

I wanna feel good
But I'm just bored I don't know why
You know I wanna feel good
As long as I don't have to try

All weekend I've been feeling tired
Could start a new project
I wonder how I should begin
They say that I should make an effort
You only get out
Of life as much as you put in
Blind to the sun
I've been sleeping in till one pm you know
I wanna feel good
But I'm just bored I don't know why
You know I wanna feel good
As long as I don't have to try

Yeah I wanna feel good
But I'm just bored I don't know why
You know I wanna feel good
But I'm a lazy, lazy guy
I think I oughta try something new and strange
But it's the end of the song and nothing's changed

You're the Reason They Locked Me In This Place

Wanna see you, got to reach you
You know how I need you
Like a stone wall, your resistance
I can't judge the distance
Creeping thoughts of you like a curse
Every action just makes it worse
You're the reason they locked me in this place
You're the reason they locked me in this place
Set apart from the rest of the human race
You're the reason they locked me in this place

Wanna hurt you, wanna kiss you
You know how I miss you
Painful memory changed your nature
You're making me hate ya
Baby I never asked for much
You could heal me with just one touch
You're the reason they locked me in this place
You're the reason they locked me in this place
Set apart from the rest of the human race
You're the reason they locked me
I can't remember what you look like
I can't recall your face
'Cause when I try to put together the mental image
I've left an empty space

You provoke me with your silence
It feels worse than violence
Felt my sorrow turn to madness
Since you changed your address
Through the window laced with wire
It's quenching my fire
Wanna see you, wanna show you
I don't really know you
Just the vision behind these eyes
Artificial and sanitized

You're the reason they locked me in this place
You're the reason they locked me in this place
Set apart from the rest of the human race
You're the reason they locked me
I can't remember what you look like
I can't recall your face
'Cause everytime I put together the mental image
I've left an empty space

Song with a Sample

Shifting trail through the sound
Prey down
Twilight gift on the way
(Noise of the day)
Perfect shelter is found
High ground
Watch each note as they play
(Just waiting)
Hazy lights on the hill
Singing voice rise
Holding no surprise
One more sip from the glass
In my keeping
Sailing now without fear
Ways clear
To the island of light
Hid from the sight
Cleansing flood from the weir
Stay near
Give me strength for the night
Soothe, still complete with energy
Accumulating under me
Shapes, folding back all sadness gone
Look outside
Everybody's moving on
Sailing now without fear
Ways clear
To the island of light
(Hid from the sight)
Cleansing flood from the weir
Stay near
Give me strength for the night

I Don't Listen to Commercial Radio

Hate the ads I see
When it's on TV I hit the mute button quickly
And get my eyes in motion
'Cause I didn't tune in just to see a promotion
Every day I put the mail in the bin
I got the no junk sign but they still put the ads in
Billboards all over the place
Stop shovin' that crap right in my face!
Everybody got somethin' to sell
But you're makin' our city into visual hell
Every pole every wall every tree
Puttin' up posters people don't need to see
And how about that spam
That you get off the net, tryin' a sell some scam
Promising all that cash
I wanna flood their system, make it crash

Hey I can't be buying each new thing that comes along
You think you'll make me buy your product but you're wrong

They must think I'm dense
'Cause half of these ads don't make no sense
Try to spin your head with a fantasy
'Cause it's all about the I-M-A-G-E
The dream end when the buyer buys
You can call it art but I call it lies
To the cats at the top we're just dollar signs
They're tryin'a control our minds
I cain't trust no ad
'Cause you know the whole point is to make us feel bad
Creatin' desire just so
We can see what we could buy if we had more dough
Make us feel imperfect
So we spend more cash, but you know it ain't worth it
And it's gone to far
Who do these advertisers think we are?

Hey, this art is not as well intentioned as it seems
It's just a mask to hide the intent of the rich man's dreams
Don't gimme what I didn't ask for
Don't gimme what I didn't ask for
Don't gimme what I didn't ask for
Don't gimme what I
I didn't ask for the wack campaign now
Don't gimme that don't gimme that crap no
You can't sell nothin' to me
Don't gimme that don't gimme that crap no
Don't gimme that don't gimme that crap no
You suck man
Don't gimme that don't gimme that crap no
Don't gimme that don't gimme that crap no
Don't gimme that don't gimme that crap no
Don't gimme that don't gimme that crap no

The One You Lost

Seeking hard for the lost light buried in stone
Madly scouring the gutter crawling alone
Low grade clouds are bleeding slow
On your head you won't let go
Premonition of failure beckons you home
I I saw you searching on your mission
Got no system you're so innefficient
No use crying for your deprivation
Where's the reason? You're a slave to your
Imagination Imagination
There's thousands more just like the one you lost
I I saw you searching on your mission
Sharp regrets postponing your decision
Big hand circling like a spirograph is
Telling you to go and all you have is
Memories of the time you held it tightly nestled in your hand
Seemed to fit so nice when life got you down it was your only friend
Seeking hard for the lost light buried in stone
Sadly scouring the gutter crawling alone
You're alone you're alone you're alone you're alone

Self Defense

I was sitting in my home
I was surfing on the internet, at a really cool chat site
When I heard a frightening sound
A crash and then a tinkle, broken glass fell to my right
So I turned towards the window, there was someone coming through
I could see a man all dressed in black, and I knew he saw me too
So I feared now that my life could be in danger
For I knew not the intentions of this stranger
What was I supposed to do?

I yelled "What the f*** is this?
Get the f*** out of my house before I get my f***ing gun!"
He said "I'm your worst nightmare
But I'm easily offended so just watch the language, son."
Then he reached inside his jacket and pulled out a great big knife
I asked "What do you want from me?" He said "I want to take your life."
So I ran to get my AK-47
Thinking "I may have to send this guy to heaven,
Make a widow of his wife."
[note: I've never actually sung this verse correctly]

He kept on coming at me
Even though I aimed the gun at him, and said "Stop or else I'll shoot!"
Well I shot him in the arm
He winced with pain, and dropped the knife, it landed by his boot
But I underestimated him, this uninvited guest
He picked the knife right up again and continued on his quest
So I pointed at his leg and pulled the trigger
But he staggered on with undiminished vigour
So I shot him in the chest.

The injured man fell down
Spilling blood across my carpet, I said "I don't understand
Why you broke into my house
And kept on coming, though you saw the gun was in my hand."
He said "I only want to end my life, though the reason I can't tell
I knew you from the internet, I knew you'd kill me well..."
After that he was not capable of language
And for causing me this pain and mental anguish
I am sure he went to hell.

No Idea

Spiral discord in space
Waiting around with a spring in the gun
Full moon leftward malaise
Majority rule the five dozen of one
Selfish nightmare in frame
What does it mean the pictorial wave
No idea can take form
Everything tendered but nothing is saved
Open the scar dense force
Teeming over strangled sub sub
No idea can take form
Spirit annihilate everyone

Reach down face dream unclean foul tangled mess

Mad disruption all dead
Savage impression no memory freed
Powdered judgment be spread
A million paradigms bury the seed
Drifting branches of shame
Guiding the parasite out of the sun
No idea can take form
Incurable burden uplifting a ton
Open the scar dense force
Teeming over strangled sub sub
No idea can take form
Spirit annihilate everyone

home

was that really the end of the song, or did you just stop because of the applause?
