Journey by Stephen Clark
    to Ridgetown

You yell, "Help! Over here!"
A man comes around the corner -- it must be Bob. He smirks when he sees you. "Well, well, well, if it isn't that person who listened to the busker but didn't pay."
You say, "Oh, come on, Bob, this is no time to be bringing up things like that! This is an emergency!"
Bob replies, "Yes, indeed it is an emergency, and there are more deserving people than you who need to be saved. So you'll just have to wait your turn." He goes away and rescues someone else.
Two hours later a team of rescuers from the State Emergency Service come and rescue you. The ambulance takes you to hospital. There the doctors announce that your legs are beyond repair and they will have to be amputated. You stay in hospital for two months, during which you try to adjust to the wheelchair-bound disabled life which you will have to live from now on.
